Purpose of the role:

As a .NET Senior Software Engineer you will be responsible for designing, developing, deploying and maintaining innovative solutions using the latest Microsoft .NET tools and technologies.

AKQA is a Facebook Preferred Supplier and also partner with Microsoft SiteCore.

Qualifications and experience required:

·         Proven experience working as a Software Engineer.

·         Experience of commercial website development.

·         A degree ideally in computer science is advantageous.

·         Experience working in a creative and/or agency environment is advantageous

Key technical competencies:

·         Visual Studio and .NET 4.0. Includes knowledge of LINQ, WCF, and other core framework components.

·         ASP .NET (C#) Web Forms and/or MVC frameworks.

·         Good use of software design patterns and principles e.g. SOLID.

·         Good understanding of standard web protocols e.g. HTTP, SSL

·         Experience integrating with third party services.

·         Subversion and an understanding of good source control practices

·         Good unit testing practices, as well as experience with associated frameworks and tools e.g. NUnit, moq

Desirable technical competencies:

·        Dependency Injection/Inversion of Control tools e.g. Unity, StructureMap

·        SQL Server and T-SQL. Use of ORM frameworks preferable e.g. Entity Framework

·        Experience developing with .NET based CMS systems e.g. Sitecore

·        Experience working within Agile teams

·        TDD, BDD

·        Scripting and automation tools e.g. PowerShell

·        HTML, JavaScript, AJAX

·        Experience developing with Facebook other social media entities.

·        Cloud computing platforms e.g. Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure

·        Experience in Content Management Systems (SiteCore for example)

Responsibilities:

·        Determine appropriate methods for multi language site developments.

·        Develop common integration scenarios to integrate systems such as:

·        Developing XML data schemas.

·        Design integration flows.

·        Design for scalability and extensibility.

·        Negotiate interfaces with clients or third party suppliers.

·        Design and develop the core framework for applications, including test and deployment strategies.

·        Understand context of work in the scope of a project and actively find effective and efficient solutions. Develop innovative solutions to problems where an existing solution doesn’t already exist.

·        Develop solutions capable of meeting high traffic volumes without negatively impacting the user experience.

·        Implement appropriate strategies for caching web content based on the functional and nonfunctional requirements specification.

·        Develop common scenarios in content management systems including, navigation structures, metadata management, document and asset management, complex workflows and basic integration scenarios.
