Responsibilities:

• The main activities of the candidate will be to conduct and coordinate research with a special focus in the field of future communication systems. The key responsibilities are: Leading channel coding, forward error correction (FEC), information theory research in at least one of the following areas: LDPC code, Turbo code, Polar code, BCH code, RS code, Generalized concatenated code etc. Leading research in one of above-mentioned areas, and providing competitive solution to the product lines, guiding senior researchers in technical direction.
• Provisioning of feasibility studies on the topic of channel coding with application in communication systems, especially LDPC code, Turbo code, Polar code, BCH code, RS code, Generalized concatenated code etc., the main goal is to improve the system performance in terms of spectrum efficiency, coding gain, error floor, complexity and throughput.
• Specification of new channel coding/information theory concepts and systems features. Active involvement in internal and external research activities of the group. New channel coding concept and new modulation technique development for future communication system (next generation Microwave systems, next generation wireless systems, next generation optical transmission systems).
• Being in the process of generating intellectual property (IPR) and publications. Presentation of reports on conferences. Supporting of existing and future channel coding demo development for microwave, wireless communication systems, optical transmission systems.

• The successful candidate is expected to have a PhD degree in information theory, information transmission, applied mathematics, advanced algebra theory, and advanced number theory, Telecommunications, Radio Physics or equivalent with a special focus on channel coding. More than 3 years experience in at least one of the following areas:  LDPC code, Turbo code, Polar code, BCH code, RS code, Generalized concatenated code etc. More than 3 years experience in research work. The applicant should have operated as a technical leader/system designer/senior researcher in at least two mid-scale research projects.  
• Thorough understanding channel coding theory such as  coding gain, error floor analysis, performance bound analysis, minimum hamming distance, channel coding encoder construction, channel coding decoding algorithm, soft decoding, hard decoding, belief propagation decoding algorithm, Viterbi decoding, code on graph etc.   
• Preferred Candidates will possess the following skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English. Rich experiences of prototype development would be very desirable. Familiar with Matlab/Simulink, C/C++ programming. The applicant should have independent programming skills. Excellent interpersonal skills as well as a team player.
