Java Compatibility Kit (JCK) Quality team is looking for a responsible and highly motivated Software Quality Engineer to join a team of engineers developing compatibility test suite (TCK) for Java SE technologies such as JDK 8, JNLP, JAXB and others. The candidate will be involved in the process of the Java platform evolution.

TCK is a suite of tests, tools and documentation that determines whether or not a product complies with Java technology specification. TCK is one of the three required pieces which  must be included in a final Java technology release.

Job Responsibilities

• Execute compatibility test suites to verify correctness and robustness of those test suites in various modes and configurations on various platforms and operation systems
• Work closely with on-site and remote Software Engineers to understand the product requirements and use cases
• Work out testing strategy
• Prepare test plans and test configurations matrix
• Analyze test results
• Prepare test reports
• Develop tests
• Maintain and develop test automation frameworks and testing tools
• Help to administrate the test laboratory

Required skills and knowledge:

• Strong technical background
• MS in a technical discipline
• 5+ years of experience in Software Development or Software Quality Assurance
• Deep understanding of quality assurance and software development processes and methodologies
• Knowledge of Windows and Unix platforms
• Knowledge of Java language
• Experience with shell programming and Perl
• Knowledge  of Source code control systems and Bug Tracking systems
• Excellent English communication skills
• Good teamwork skills

Preferable skills and knowledge:

• Programming experience in Unix environment
• Experience in Unix administration
• Extensive testing and troubleshooting experience
• Experience in working with distributed teams
