Developer / Senior Developer Trillion Node Network

SAP Global Research is the global technology research unit of SAP, with a network of 15 research centers on 5 continents, comprising of multiple practice areas in Advanced Development and Applied Research. The group significantly contributes to SAP’s product portfolio by identifying and shaping emerging IT trends and generating breakthrough technologies through applied research, advanced development and various commercialization vehicles like the Global Business Incubator, Imagineering and the Co-Innovation Lab.

As part of the Advanced Development Organization the Trillion Node Network Practice is driven by the believe that anything and anyone will soon be completely interconnected through tags, sensor networks and mobile devices, creating a massive amount of raw data that will need to be analyzed, contextualized and optimized to provide unique value to users. The practice is focused on Machine-to-Machine communication and Internet-of-Things technology. This includes topics like connect vehicles, smart assets, and smart cities. 

EXPECTATIONS AND TASKS

• As a developer / senior developer in the Trillion Node Network practice you will work in a team that is highly committed to deliver first class results building on the latest technologies in the fields of Machine-to-Machine communication and Internet-of-Things. In order to be successful in this challenging role you have to have a strong experience in software development, the willingness to continuously learn and extend your already strong knowledge, and the ability to perform in a globally distributed team. Your main task will be the contribution to the development of completely new products, pilots, and PoCs.

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

• University degree in computer science, electrical engineering or related field
• Excellent development skills in Java and / or ABAP
• Advanced knowledge in at least one mobile platform (iOS, Android, RIM, Windows 8)
• Good understanding of SCRUM and Design Thinking methodologies
• Very good English speaking and writing skills
• High commitment to delivery top quality results
• Strong team player

WORK EXPERIENCE

• At least three years of development experience in large scale development projects – ideally within the context of SAP and Mobile
• Additional development experience in fields like embedded software or telecommunications a plus
• Experience with working in globally distributed, virtual teams
