Job Description:

Design and implementation of software components based on functional requirements.

Responsibilities:

• Independently put the Openwave software development process into practice as appropriate

• Takes ownership of product subcomponents including functional specification, design, implementation and maintenance

• Assist in the development of implementation schedules for owned sub components 

• Develop assigned software modules within schedule constraints using Openwave accepted coding practices

• Specify and perform unit testing of developed software modules

• Fix bugs in software modules as necessary

• Assist publications department as required to document the product

• Assist QA engineers as required to develop of test plans and isolate software faults

• Lead a department code review

• Work with other department software engineers to ensure successful development and delivery of product

• Report status in timely fashion as requested by Manager or project lead engineer or when problems arise

Required Skills:

• BSc degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent relevant to Software Engineering

• User Interface design and development

• Knowledge of HTML5 and Javascript

• Experience of building modern Web Applications using technologies like Javascript, CSS, AJAX, JQuery/Prototype/etc.

• Knowledge and experience of Web Application design best-practices

• Familiarity with Agile methodologies and practices (e.g Test Driven Development in a Web Application context)

• Strong communication skills – both verbal and written

Desired Skills:

• Web application design and development for mobile devices

• Knowledge of Java Spring and OSGi technologies

• Sun Java Programmer Certification

• Demonstrable experience using Eclipse

• Experience in writing technical documentation
