Quality engineers at Skype are responsible and accountable for developing and implementing test plans for complex, multi-tier distributed applications throughout the full software development lifecycle. They play a key role in ensuring all appropriate applications (including new and in production) are fully tested to drive optimal customer experience, no matter the platform or the product. Skype quality engineers are meticulous and highly organised, able to work effectively within a wider development team to deliver quality outcomes on time and to specification.

Key Responsibilities:

• Quality Evaluation and Control
  
  • Direct a UI Test Automation program for Skype for Android (Different OS versions).
  • Define, develop and implement current tools and methodologies further, use these tools and principles to measure and analyze the quality of the software Prepare environment for testing - code compilation, test preparation and launching.
  • Coordinate the work with other parties involved in automation.
  • Work closely with Product Engineering Manager, Software Developers and other Quality Engineers.
• Test Management
  
  • Design, develop and document automated testing processes for Skype Mobile on Android and maintain test automation framework, test cases, environment, test coverage.
  • Integrate and maintain Test Automation framework into Continuous Integration processes and tools.
• Defects Management
  
  • Be responsible for issues tracking, reporting defects to developers, get beyond the problem report providing detailed information from isolated testing scenario to relevant logs to developer to fast resolution.

Pre-requisite Knowledge, Skills and Experience

• At least two years of Test Automation experience.
• Experience with one of the scripting languages: Python, Perl,
• Good knowledge of quality and quality related metrics.
• Advanced in Continuous Integration.
• Good understanding of networking basics.
• Experience with a various defect, requirements, issues and test management systems.
• Bug-tracking system (Jira, Trac, etc.)
• Work on Scrum/Agile methodology is a plus.

PREFERRED:

• Knowledge of software testing methodology (Various techniques, frameworks, etc.). Good understanding of distributed systems, sockets and threads.
• Knowledge of real-time communications and associated protocols.
