The iOS team is responsible for developing new features in tight cooperation with designers, product management and quality engineers, iterating daily and contributing to maintaining a healthy build using Agile scrum practices. The team maintains considerable expertise in Objective-C, Cocoa and C++ development and iPhone, OS, and Mac OS X operating systems.
 
The Engineering Manager is accountable for planning and delivering iOS releases against the agreed release policy and for managing the iOS team engineers and reports to the Director Portfolio Products Engineering for Mobile. This accountability includes feature and maintenance releases and any needed continuous improvement of product, process and quality. The Engineering Manager is responsible for scrum master duties, technical leadership as well as maintaining a cadence of reporting from the team to the Portfolio Director. The Engineering Manager will also maintain relationships across a peer organization to ensure smooth delivery of releases with other dependent components of the Skype Client. These include but are not limited to: Audio , Video, P2P Networking and QE. The ideal candidate will also have been scrum master certified. 
 
Responsibilities:
  • Managing and leading a team of software engineers and QE of greater than 6 people.
  • Improving and developing team processes and engineering practices
  • Working closely with the Product Managers to drive and implement product strategy
  • Building the Release Plan based on priorities defined with the Product Manager
  • Delivering against the Release Plan and manage dependencies to other engineering teams
  • Coordinating product release with Site Operations and Quality Engineering team
 
Experience & Qualifications:
  • Experienced and established technical leader of software engineering teams delivering iOS applications with proven deliveries in the mobile marketplace. Some consideration will be given to MAC OSX leadership experience.
  • Strong software engineering background including successful software engineering career
  • Experience from international working environment with good command of English language
  • Strong knowledge of software development methodologies and practices 
  • Good working knowledge of P2P networking, audio and video on Apple mobile platforms like iPhone and iPad. 
  • Scrum Master Certification
  • A Masters degree in Computer Science or similar would be advantageous
