C# Developer Prime Services Monza (Barclays Capital)
EPAM Systems (www.epam.com), one of the largest Software Engineering Services Companies in European IT market, CMMI Level 4 certified, is looking for Middle C# developer for its Kyiv Office.
Main Function
The successful applicant will become a member of the Monza IT team. S/he will join the team working on development of the Monza, Prime Services’ strategic data platform.
Monza provides an environment where the Prime Service Business can access all the data they need to manage their Risk and Margining requirements.
Requirements:
- 2 + years of C# development experience.
- Write good quality code that is easy to test
- Good Core computer science
- Good grounding in .net technologies
- Good C# development skills
- Good Object orientated design
- Intelligent, self-motivated individual who will fit well within an established team.
- Candidate must be used to working in a challenging and dynamic environment and be able to perform well under pressure to hit deadlines.
- Must have a proven ability in gaining an understanding of existing applications/systems quickly.
- Experience of database design and/or technical architecture will be valuable
- Experience with NoSQL technology
- Any experience with functional languages a bonus (F#, Scala, Haskell)
- MSBuild
- Perforce
- Experience of working in agile team
- English – intermediate is a must
Main duties:
- Reporting in to one of the team leaders in the group, the candidate will participate in all stages of the development process – requirements gathering, specification, implementation, testing and deployment either alone or with other members of the team.
- Monza is a core technology block for a new Risk and Margining environment that is being build up. It uses MongoDB as a data store and exposes data using a custom LINQ provider and also provides an F# analytic layer. The core platform is written in C# (4.0) with the analytic layer being in F# (2.0). Extensive use is made of design patterns, OO principles and candidates would be expected to be familiar with these. As the team release software frequently a strong focus on testing if critical.
- The development team are committed to producing high quality code and actively engage in code reviews, training and knowledge sharing.
- This is done in an agile manor using the Scrum management framework.
- Requirements are driven by a demanding user base who expect relatively short release cycles and a high level of commitment and initiative from the development team. Candidates should be articulate and able to grasp complex financial requirements quickly. The Monza team use agile software engineering practice (e.g. IoC) and use the Scrum management framework.
- This is a role requiring significant development skill and technical expertise; the candidate will be involved in new Monza development using C# with the opportunity to learn F#.
As part of the team’s agile ethos we are looking for someone to be part of an 'Agile feature team' not a 'developer', this means, most of the time will be spent working on development tasks, however there will also be times spent doing other activities including the following:
- Testing - we aim to automate testing as much as possible but sometimes this is not the case
- Writing Documentation - Have a WIKI that is used by the team as well as clients - this needs to be kept clear, relevant and up to date.
- Support - We have a dedicated first line support team but we provide help for resolving issues that require more in depth investigation
- Environment management – we own a number of environments that from time to time need to be managed in various ways (e.g. requesting additional storage).
- Coordination production release – We have a streamlined release process but there is a level of admin involved in preparing paperwork and chasing sign-offs
