Role

  • Work with a variety of other project roles including developers, testers, business analysts and representativesfrom the business to understand the project infrastructure and release management requirements for the project.
  • The successful candidate will work within the agile development team to consistently deliver new features аnd grow our business and therefore it is essential you have experience of running and scaling webapplication infrastructure based on MS technologies. It is vital that an understanding of the importance of response times and high availability is second nature and of continual focus.
  • This is not a Sys Admin/Systems Engineers position. We are interested in those that can bridge the gap between Development and Operations. An experienced and dynamic Sys Admin/System Engineer who understands the differences between Operations and Development Operations. Someone who is passionate about building a DevOps culture and defining this relatively new industry role.
  • This is an amazing opportunity to harness new skills and extend traditional operational skills into emerging and dynamic cloud technologies.
  • Work with the UK DevOps to ensure agreed Project Infrastructure and Release Management is in place
  • Manage automatic deployment and monitoring of cloud infrastructure and applications
  • Responsible for system builds and configuration, application releases and automation, from development through to production systems (working with the Operations team)
  • Help set up and run automated testing infrastructure to verify products, services and components working toward continuous delivery
  • Act as the bridge between development and the infrastructure engineers, provide guidance, support and act as a point of escalation for release and configuration management as necessary
  • Advise and educate the Development teams on best practices based on their ‘real world’ operational experiences
  • Act as the single point of contact for the management and integrity of the environments and assessing the impact of technical change. Working with the Operations team to reduce deployment risks and streamline the deployment process
  • Work within a Scrum Team(s) to ensure that new products, services or components are delivered to the appropriate levels of quality within the agreed sprint cycles
  • Integrate with and support the team to ensure the effective and high quality deliverables
  • Actively participate in workshops, including sprint planning and retrospectives
  • Ensure that the appropriate Agile metrics and artefacts are produced and communicated to enable the team and product owner to make informed decisions
  • A flexible approach  to workings hours may be required and a keen interest in automating manual Sys
  • Admin/Systems Engineers tasks in the cloud so they are streamlined and repeatable

Required


  • 5 years’ experience building and running infrastructure for production systems
  • A strong background in administering Windows operating systems and MS Applications
  • Experience of working alongside developers and bridging the gap between development and operations. An in-depth understanding of what DevOps is all about
  • A working knowledge of CI infrastructure. Strong familiarity with testing processes and the mechanisms to automate and vet deployments.
  • Experience with automated deployment tools such as Apache Chef
  • Experience working with cloud providers (Amazon EC2, Azure, or similar)

  • Core MS Infrastructure technologies, Exchange, IIS, and Active Directory etc.
  • Active Directory configurations DHCP, DNS, Servers and services
  • Network, OS and Application Monitoring tools
  • Powershell scripting and automation
  • SQL databases
