Moscow office of Mirantis Inc is looking for a Java/BigData Software Engineer, who will be doing software development using big data technology stack. An ideal candidate will have a solid knowledge of Java, Hadoop and noSQL databases, passion to design distributed systems and solve challenging data analytics problems. You will be challenged to deliver innovative and effective solutions.
 

Responsibilities:

• Define architecture and develop solutions based on big data technology stack
• Make design choices and be able to articulate them to the rest of the team
• Build large distributed systems that scale well
• Learn and evaluate new technologies

Requirements:

• BS/MS in computer science or related;
• 3+ years of software development experience in Java
• Hands-on experience working with Hadoop and its ecosystem
• Ability to write Map/Reduce jobs;
• Good communication skills;
• Good command of English – written and oral;

Would be a plus:

• Excellent knowledge of algorithms and data structures
• Experience of working with large Hadoop clusters: provisioning, maintenance and monitoring. Ability to tweak Map/Reduce for optimal performance
• Experience of working with MapR and Cloudera Hadoop distributions
• Knowledge of Cassandra, Membase, Project Voldermort, MongoDB, Couch DB, Redis, Riak
• Knowledge of Language R, Mahout
• Track record of building distributed systems & reliable / fault tolerant software;
• Ability to find and fix bottlenecks in distributed systems;
