Job Description
Developing next generation of video coding technologies and standards, such as High Efficient Video Coding (HEVC), 3D video coding, and scalable video coding, designing and developing new coding tools that will outperform the state of the art video coding technologies such as the current HEVC Working Draft (WD) and its test model (HM), as well as MPEG-AVC/H.264. Developing codec optimization algorithms for rate control, coding mode decision, motion estimation, encoding/decoding parallelization, pre/post processing, High Dynamic Range, super resolution enhancement etc., that are targeted at various real-time video broadcast and interactive communications applications.
Responsibilities:
· Preparing the compression algorithm and technology for next generation of video coding standards;
· Developing codec optimization algorithms for rate control, coding mode decision, motion estimation, encoding/decoding parallelization, pre/post processing, High Dynamic Range, super resolution enhancement etc.
Requirements:
· PhD in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science or Mathematics or Signal processing;
· Capability to develop and promote new and better coding tools for the future video coding standards, such as MPEG, ITU-T, and others;
· Capability to develop encoding optimization algorithms.
· Good oral and written communication, interpersonal skills and fluency in English.
· Excellent cooperation skills with a wide variety of people, including but not limited to, engineering, R&D and standardization
· Strong attention to details, and proactive, motivated and able to work as a team player;
· Be interested in video compression research or other video processing technology;
· Self-training ability.
Desirable skills:
· Essential hands-on developing video coding algorithms for better compression efficiency, encoding optimization algorithms and parallelization algorithms for real-time codec;
· Experience with programming languages such as C/С++, Matlab, etc;
· Profound understanding of the existing video coding technologies and standards, such as MPEG2, MPEG-AVC/H.264 and its SVC and MVC extensions;
· Experience with HM, JM, KTA, X264 or other codec platforms.
