Certified Oracle DBA/Developer

Key Responsibilities:

·         Installs, configures and tests databases on UNIX platforms.

·         Assists in the analysis and design of new database systems ensuring adherence to technical standards, data standards and integration with other data sources.

·         Installs, configures, tests and maintains database management software, database utilities and layered products including the application of patches and upgrades ensuring that version control procedures are observed and supplier and user documentation is maintained (including patching and Oracle TAR Management).

·         Monitors database activity and ensures efficient access to data, working with data analysis and database design functions where appropriate. Undertakes regular exercises to optimise database performance.

·         Implements, monitors and maintains database security and data integrity controls in accordance with system security policies.

·         Plans and implements procedures for backup and restore of databases, ensuring backups have been successfully executed according to schedule, planning and managing exercises to prove recovery procedures. Implements recovery procedures when necessary.

·         Manages and controls database resources. Working with the capacity management function, plans for future storage requirements, and prepares cases for additional resources.

·         Ensures that database problems are investigated, diagnosed and resolved, referring to database users, other IT personnel and suppliers as necessary.

·         Contributes to the setting of standards for database objects (e.g. naming conventions) and ensures conformance to these standards.

·         Prepares and maintains technical procedures for database hardware and software.

·         Provides expert support for the Java and PHP development team, including support for existing testing teams, deploying changes to staging and production databases, loading data between systems, maintaining existing data integrity.

·         Develops PL/SQL APIs.

·         Consumer Groups/Resource Manager Plans;

·         ASM/AWR/ADDM/PGA Advisor/SQL Tuning Advisor/SQL Access Advisor/ STATSPACK/Flashback;

·         Strong SQL knowledge;

·         Replication API development experience;

·         PL/SQL skills and proven experience;

·         Strong Unix skills experience;

·         Linux / SUSE 9, 10 environments;

·         UNIX shell scripting;

·         Source code control (CVS, SVN);

Desirable Skills:

·         Experience with java, object orientated design or data warehousing;

·         Experience in the banking/financial sector;

Education/Certification and Experience required:

·         At least 5 years Oracle database 9i-10g administration experience;

·         At least 5 years Oracle PL/SQL development experience;

·         Mission critical 24x7 environment experience;

·         Computer Science or similar degree;

·         Oracle Database 10g: Administrator Certified Professional;

·         Oracle Database 10g: Real Applications Clusters Administrator Certified Expert;

·         Oracle Database 10g: Managing Oracle on Linux Certified Expert;

·         Oracle Database 10g: PL/SQL Developer Certified Professional;
